August 22nd and it’s pouring down. Luvlee.
Mucker Mich is in the west country somewhere, ata blues festival. It’s pouring down there too, sms says so.
Mummy allatsea ( a sprightly 75 year old and very pro-active show goer) went to see Mama Mia in the West End last night. Rang me up this morning to tell me that it was a ‘nice show’ but there were ‘too many Abba songs in it’. Talk about not researching the show you’re going to see, or for that matter, having your head in the sand for the last 5 years. Hmmm. It does seem to run in the family…………………………………sigh.
The scaffolding at 143 was removed yesterday. It had been up for 7 weeks. House looks a bit on the denuded side. We’re thinking about ringing up Lineport and asking them to put it back up again. Hang the expense. At £25 a week, it’s not a bad deal really. Made the place look purposeful somehow and at the the same time, was very handy for getting at the gable gutters.
Crikey the rain’s coming down harder than ever. Doing a very reasonable impression of a tropical downpour. At least it’ll make the grass green. And overflow the drains out the back. Anyone got the number for Dynarod?
Just finished reading Heartland by Neil Cross. Breathtaking stuff with a stunningly understated delivery style. I couldn’t believe the power and emotion that could be elicited from such simple sentences. You can shove the pompous and arrogant style of Mr Rushdie and the like, right up their own bottoms. It’s just pretentious verbiage compared to Mr Cross.
Right then, time to get the wellies on and find the drain clearing rods………………………again.
