The wind’s from the north again, brrrrr. It’s high tide and the sea appears to be about 30 metres from the front door here at Allatsea towers. In fact it’s nearer to 100m but it still looks disconcertingly close. Fortunately there’s a cliff in the way. It’s low but reassuring none the less.
The car’s still at the garage. It’s taking longer than expected but that wasn’t helped by yours truly telling the mechanic to change the front discs when in fact it was the rear ones that needing doing. Gawd help us, premature senility or what? There w3as similar incident the other week. We were setting up the new business and registering for VAT etc with the authorities.
All the stationery was printed, cards issued, contracts signed, adverts placed and loads of other stuff with the trading name (rather imaginatively allatsea’s very own monica), Richard Guy Howell only to find out that I’d declared the trading name to HMR&C as R G Howell. Not a huge cock up on the face of it but big enough to cause knotted brows and much cussing. Lets home some civil service jobsworth doesn’t put the boot in.
A quick gem of trivia on the renewables front. Installed and operating wind generating capacity in the UK (on and offshore) is currently less than 2.0GW. Germany has over 8GW of photo-voltaic installed already. Wow!! Step back and gasp and admire.
The UK’s planned wind generating capacity is 26GW, that’s going to be an awful lot of turbines folks, be prepared for the views, and the bills.
