Cloying, saturated fog. Muffled cries from confused gulls. Opaque windows, smoky breath.
That was ‘wensdy’ at 0700, in Westbrook. Not an inspiring start to the day and I couldn’t help feeling for the gulls, they weren’t happy at all.
The BIG SHOCK NEWS from East Kent is that yesterday, Pfizer, the area’s only large and DECENT employer was shutting down and throwing 2400 staffers out of a job. Throw in the agency wallahs and that figure will probably double. Awful awful news to a sadly fragile and vulnerable region like ours. On the ‘plus’ side of things, at least the traffic shouldn’t be so congested in the rush hours. Always look on the bright side they say.
On the feline front, newly arrived (November) BBT (bigbadtom) has usurped squeaky frightened tabby tom (sftt) in the dominance stakes. SFTT is nowhere to be seen most days, when he does put in an appearance, normally at mealtimes, he gets the proverbial pooh beaten out him by bbt. It’s quite upsetting truth be told. Although timid and distant, sftt has been a regular lodger at the towers for a number of years and I rather miss the old lad.
