Crikey where’s the time gone? Two blinks and half the year’s gone by seemingly. Here in Ramsgate we’ve got the darkest of darkest nights, clogged roads (Xmas shoppers in their zillions), no snow and too much wind where it’s not wanted. There are (were) large vet bills keeping geriatric moggies on the path to immortality, featherless chucks making too much noise, doubled gas bills, a continuing addiction to all things shaving and a very slow straight razor learning curve. ‘Ouch’ and ‘alum’ spring to mind.
It’s nearly Christmas and all the associated malarkey that goes with it. Not the best of times to be honest but at least allatsea’s not rostered to be working on the day itself and it’ll soon be over. So much hassle for such an ickle wickle period of time. Moaning aside, I’m glad I’m not ‘away’ for said occasion. Used to hate it when I was a sailor, being away for the 25th that is. The rest of it doesn’t mean a thing. Just commercial nonsense and stress for all of us. Tch tch.
Things in Oz seem to have stabilised and the heartache and pain that was rampant in one particular household has subsided. Prayers answered on that one so thanks all round, spiritual and otherwise.
Mucker Mick’s off to spend the winter on southern European shores so we’ve got a do or two to go to before he travels. Lucky old lad. Same age as allatsea too, guess which one got the life planning bit right and the which one didn’t…..sob sob sob.
Any news from the towers? Mmmm, having a think……..the Three signal is still tosh, more out than in; the towers could do with a bit of a full re-decorate but we can’t be arsed….frankly. Buy and ‘do up’?….nopey no…buy and forget, that’s the way. If it eventually starts to fall down around your ears there’s always GSI. Get someone in. It never fails. Expensive though.
Other news, well the parking gets worse of course. As the grand houses of Royal Esplanade slowly fall into disrepair and get turned into flats so the demand for the very finite resource of parking space goes up and up and up and up. Sigh. I wish they’d ‘yellow line’ the entire street but then again that might be a bit of ‘I’m all right Jack’ coming through and that, sadly, seems to be the ways things are at present. Far too much self importance, especially from the terminally ‘only just adequate’, moi included. A lesson to be learned then.
