Peggy well and receiving visitors

Not much going on at the Towers offices today, all done and dusted by 1100 so into the mighty NV200 and off to Pegwell Bay ( Ramsgate) to see if the cliffs had survived the winter storms. The ones at Reculver to the east of Margate were gently crumbling onto the beach at the last visit a few weeks ago. The Pegwell ones, being chalk rather than clay and sand soil layers should, hopefully, be more resilient.

As it happened they were, resilient that is. All was well other than the place seemed  deserted and forlorn (apart from the Belle View pub which was throbbing well enough with lunchtime punters) and the chain saw gangs have removed a rather beautiful area of green and trees in front of the Regency Buildings. Vandals or developers. Or are they indeed the same thing so very often?

Regency Building 1

It’s no beauty but the in its early days it would have been magnificent. About three acres of trees removed. Sad.

Pegwell caravan 2

Pegwell Caravan Park,  gets the juices flowing doesn’t it.

Belle View 1

The Belle View, busy it seems, and well looked after. Not like its neighbour.

Pegwell H St upwards

Pegwell High Street, no people, cars, life.

Peg Bay high water

Pegwell Cliffs, still standing.

About allatsea

Sixty year old master-mariner. Absolutely gorgeous. Well wedged.....when compared to a Nairobi street urchin. Sorted, in that I haven't been in court recently. Hopelessly optimistic, terminally disappointed. Good with cats and other fluffy things. No musical talent. Generous to a fault provided it's someone else's round. Political centreist with far right and left viewpoints. A green activist from the hydrocarbon position with nuclear leanings. Averse to avarice but always happy to receive lottery wins, gifts, windfalls, legacies, prizes and wet sloppy kisses.
