The Rotterdam trip has dropped back to Monday. Good, the thought of a weekend shuffling round the bleakness of Europoort doesn’t fill a chap full of enthusiasm. Ghastly place at the best of times, throw a bit of pooh weather and a slipping ETA into the mix and depression can set in quite quickly. Even for a chap as full of the joys of life as this one.
Good weather here in Fannit beckons outdoor activities, bike rides and walks. In reality that will be more along the lines of shuffling along the seafront to Wetherspoons and embracing their latest ‘Ale Festival’ with gusto. On the subject of which, rumours are reaching the towers that our esteemed political classes (blemish free and righteous to a one) are considering bringing in a minimum price for alcohol. WHAT?? Do they not realise that they tread a very fine line between revolution and the status quo? Politicos…..BE WARNED…you may find yourselves hanging from lamp posts in the street if you push and interfere too far. Just remember what happened to Romanian president Nicolae Ceaușescu when he wouldn’t listen to the people.
Oooh that’s all a bit heavy for a lovely sunny Saturday morning so onto lighter and happier things. Perhaps the bike will be dusted off again. It’ll do some good and a chap always likes to feel superior to other folk. Find a line of queuing traffic and cycle back and forth along it feeling smug. It is the way of the man.
