Considering how close it is, the trip back from Ulsteinvik is really quite long and ‘full on’. This especially so when it’s a national holiday and the ferries run at half frequency. Hence the 40 minute wait at Hareid for the big black and white boaty thing to arrive which added to an already fragmented trip.. Journey time from hotel to Gatwick, nine hours. crikey.
Anyway, even with the rigors and tribulations of Noggy airport prices (a bottle of water and a poor excuse for a ham and cheese sandwich NK 98/£10), fully automated check in and baggage drop (ughhhhhhh), delayed take-offs, long transfers and ‘holiday mania’ it wasn’t too bad, just extended a tadge.
Back to deal old Fannit sur Scum with its dis-jointed demography, bent politicians, Turner Centre, Millmead, lack of airport and ferries (which NEVER, even in the dark days, reduced the sailing frequency cos’ it was a holiday, good on them!!), the nearest Waitrose in Ramsgate (what a waste), too many Costas and glad to be there he is. Luvverly indeed.
Rellies over from Oz so a day off to spend a bit of time with them and then report writing and prepping to go offshore for a while as the construction season in the North Sea and ‘Atlantic’ frontier are in full swing and the MWS world is a busy and chaotic one……………unfortunately )
