‘Through the past darkly’ was the title of the first LP (vinyl) that allatsea ever bought. The date would be circa 1969, the LP was by the Rolling Stones a band he didn’t like them at the time but it was cheap and on offer through my Aunty’s Freemans catalogue. Aaah, those were the days. Nostalgic sighs all round please.
New just in (some time ago probably)
There was a great loss recently in the entertainment world. Larry La Prise, the man who wrote the “Hokey Kokey”, died last week at 83. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in and things just started to go downhill from there.
The lyrics to a very nice called ‘Ghosts’ by an Irish band the name of which has slipped old allatsea’s mind………………..again. Ooooh, it’s coming back, HORSLIPS!!
Left alone without you, shadows on my wall
ghosts in my looking glass and voices in the hall.
At first I didn’t understand, I had nothing left to sell.
And though I played with fire my life was cold as hell, yes my life was cold as hell.
They came a knocking at my door
the landlord dressed in black.
He said, go on pack your bags and move on out we don’t ever want you back.
And who was I to question the logic of his speech,
it proved there can be hope whenever there are dreams,
wherever there are dreams.
Mine was just a foolish heart, couldn’t fake a smile
thought I’d find a living down the golden mile.
And I remember being in love, so long ago it seems; the love that drives me on is the love I find in dreams, the love I find in dreams.
Harking back to the Je suis Charlie tragedy, the Towers notes that the moron and Republican that is Donald Trump has piped up with his usual cretinous observations. Seemingly he thinks that if France had more tolerant gun laws and the aged cartoonists and journalists has been armed, the tragedy wouldn’t have occurred. Strewth man, give us strength to deal with idiots like you and yours.
